so i guess it's convention time again back in wisconsin or illinois or wherever the hell they drive nowadays.
someone made me unfortunately have to remember this.
so i got to thinking about the conventions and the showing off that took place there:.
I think what I noticed about Conventions was this:
Since JW's don't get to go to proms or class reunions, basically fun and special occasions unless it is a wedding, conventions and assemblies make up for that.
So in comes the new hair dos, the new dresses or suits. It's the time that people can have mini reunions with people that they haven't seen in ages.
Are they showing off? I'm sure some are. But some are just enjoying whatever they can get out of life.
not long ago, i would have defended them slightly with opinions about those 'under mind control' etc.
but the further i get from jw think, the more i believe that jw's are just plain mean and hateful asses!
two situations that i relate in my life.. 1- an elder i know works in a grocery store.
I really think that the organization attracts those who like mean spirited thinking. They like a God who slaughters billions so they can live. They like an organization that expells people for acting like sinners act. They enjoy calling people who reject their 'truth', 'goats'. They lap up comments from others that tear down instead of building up.
Yep.
The JW religion is an exclusive club. An elitist group.
It attracts people who looks at others and picks apart their weaknesses. And it's a very hard habit to break. I have found that I can still really fall into that.
When people pick apart the weaknesses of others, it keeps us from focusing on our faults and weaknesses and we can really start believing that we are really all that, when we aren't.
last night, a small group ( about 8 ) of teenagers gathered to go watch the meteor showers.
a young man, known to all, drove up, asking what was going on.
they told him they were talking about where was the best place to go watch.

Here's a story from a couple of years ago. If anyone ever has any doubt what to do when someone is drunk and trying to drive, drive them home take the keys or do whatever you have to do to keep them from driving.

called united insurance group who my friend works for.
he says the place only hires witnesses for their fulltime positions at the home office.. pat patterson, who runs it, is very wealthy.

They're all located in the Milford, Brighton, South Lyon etc areas of MI.
went to see him last night.

My elder brother in law and his daughter work for them as do a few others that I know.
I didn't recognize those names but I recognized Patterson's name. Isn't he a former JW?
Hmm... This is weird. I didn't think this was current news? I'm pretty confident this is how it was last I checked. Maybe not. Anyway - to me, this makes more sense than a straight 'ladder'. "The bushy tree" seems to gel much better with how I view the whole evolution process.
Hm well I just happened to see this on Yahoo. So I figured it was new. I Did try to find a link to something like StillAJwEx suggested. No luck. Oh well.
For me this is interesting I guess, but in all honesty I'm not that into how did we get here at this point. I think evolution makes sense when I stand back and look at the big picture.
